IIUI commemorates ‘World Day’ of Arabic Language

ISLAMABAD: The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), on Wednesday, commemorated the ‘World Day’ of the Arabic language here at Faisal Masjid campus.

Addressing the ceremony organized to mark the occasion, IIUI President, Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh urged the Muslim societies to devise a strategy for the promotion of Arabic language to have the best comprehension of Islamic teachings.

Dr Al-Draiweesh said that Arabic is a source of unity among the Muslims that introduces them to their legacy. He said that Arabic was imperative to be taught to the youth and vowed that IIUI would be found available in this regard to cooperate with all the institutions.

The ceremony was also attended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) deputy ambassador, ambassador of Sudan, KSA cultural attaché, United Arab Emirates (UAE) representative diplomat, Senator Talha Mehmood, university Vice President Dr Aqdas Naveed Malik, Arabic Dean Dr Muhammad Bashir, foreign and local faculty members, as well as, a large number of students.

Senator Talha hailed the IIUI for its services in the promotion of the Arabic language and assured his maximum support in terms of legislation or inclusion of Arabic as a compulsory subject at the various study levels.

Students presented tablos, skits and Arabic nasheed on the occasion. Meanwhile, a calligraphy exhibition was also held where students showcased their talent and were hailed by the visitors.
