LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General Police Capt (retd) Arif Nawaz on Saturday directed the police officers to complete under construction police service centres in the province for providing facilities, including police character certificate, FIR copy, driving license and registration of other issues to people under one roof.
Addressing an RPO and DPO video-link conference at Central Police Office (CPO) here on Saturday, he directed the officials to conduct search and sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations in all districts of Punjab on daily basis to maintain law and order.
Issuing directions, he said that information technology-based projects, including front desk, hotel eye and welfare eye, should be distinctively monitored, and district police officers should review the arrangements regarding these projects, he added.
During the meeting, the IGP was briefed that most of the police service centres have been completed and started operations in Punjab, whereas remaining service centres would also be completed within 15 days.
Reviewing the crime situation in Punjab, the provincial police chief directed to form special police teams consisting of commandos, equipped with modern weapons, bulletproof jackets and helmets to arrest the proclaimed offenders of category-A.
He said that police torture would not be tolerated at any cost during investigation and custody, and strict action would also be taken against officials found guilty of torture, he maintained.
Additional IG Training Tariq Masood, Additional IG Establishment Azhar Hameed, DIG Operations Punjab Amir Zulfiqar, DIG SPU Faisal Ali Rana and other officers were present on the occasion.
