PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak said Wednesday that the unique style of pro-people governance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had rendered Nawaz Sharif, Zardari, Fazlur Rahman and Asfandyar Wali irrelevant in the political arenas of the country and the province.

He said this while addressing members of a jirga and some delegations at the CM House Peshawar, where prominent political workers of different parties announced joining PTI at the occasion.

On the occasion, the chief minister said that said that the PTI was fast emerging as the sole political force in the country and would bag the maximum number of seats in next year’s general elections. He said that the Rapid Bus Transit project would see the light of the day well before the elections.

He further said that the federal government was not legitimate and fresh elections should be held in the country at the earliest. The incompetence of the ruling elite and the deteriorating economy indicated that the federal government was weak and incapable, he added.

Furthermore, CM Khattak said that the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was advocated by all political forces with the exception of a few who had their own interest in favouring the existing system in FATA. It would be a grave injustice to the people of the tribal areas if the merger was delayed any further, he added.

Khattak also said that the past rulers had pushed the country towards disaster because they had nothing to do with the problems of poor. They only indulged in record corruption that created multi-faceted challenges for the common people, he added.

He said that the growing popularity of PTI had put the survival of traditional political forces at stake, adding that sooner or later they would realise their irrelevance in the eyes of the common people as well. The CM showed certainty that these political forces had become history, saying that the present belonged to the youth of PTI.

The chief minister also opposed the three layers of education that included English medium, Urdu medium and madrasa education and advocated uniformity of the system.

He further said that the so-called and irrelevant forces were sharing negative propaganda against the pro-people initiatives of his government. They should have delivered when they were ruling the country, but instead they only indulged in corruption, he added.

He said that that Billion Tree Tsunami project initiated by his government would make the province green again, which had been made barren due mass scale deforestation by the timber mafia.

Moreover, CM Khattak said that Swat Motorway was the first ever motorway being constructed in the province and would open up the entire Malakand region to tourists and businesses.

He said that it was Imran Khan who gave came with the vision of change which greatly benefitted the poor and middle classes of society.
