Revealed: Faizabad protestors’ seventh demand asked for Ahsan Iqbal to remain interior minister

ISLAMABAD – It has been reliably learnt that the seventh, and most stressed demand of the Tehrik Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY) protestors following the Faizabad blockade and the sit-in asked for Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to remain as the Interior Minister.

“They asked for him to remain the interior minister and be the designated interior minister whenever there is PML-N government,” a source within the Interior Ministry revealed to The Dependent, wishing strict anonymity.

“The Interior Minister said no way in hell, and threatened to call off the negotiations over this one demand,” added the source, who was elected as the MNA from the NA-117 constituency in Narowal.

Sources within the TLY have confirmed that the resignation of Ahsan Iqbal was indeed their seventh demand.

“Considering how far sighted and forward looking we are as a party and a species, it was actually our foremost demand,” revealed a senior TLY member wishing anonymity.

“It’s the fact that it was never revealed to the media that gives the impression that we actually got the better deal out of the dharna.”

However, the Interior Ministry source maintained that the demand was out of the question from the get-go.

“I can’t take this anymore,” maintained the source, who also serves as the Minister for Planning, Development & Reform.
