LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, after landing in Pakistan early morning from Turkey, has urged the government to dissolve assemblies and pave the way for next general elections in the country.

He briefly spoke to media at Lahore’s airport where, despite a severe cold, he was welcomed by a large number of workers.

“The government has completely failed. It has lost the capability to stay in power,” he said, adding the country is “going through turbulent times”.

Qadri said the government’s failures were not hidden from anyone, adding it even failed to hold successful negotiations to put a peaceful end to the Islamabad sit-in.

The PAT chief demanded the dissolution of assemblies for general elections, alleging that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was involved in attacking the faith of Khatm-e-Nabuwat.

Qadri thanked the military for playing the role of broker and guarantor in talks with Faizabad protestors.

He demanded that the entire cabinet be sent packing for it has no moral standing to stay in power.

“Those who were not resolving national issues through parliament had no right to govern,” the PAT chief said.

He claimed the PML-N government had virtually collapsed after the Model Town incident, saying the rulers had been exposed.

Commenting further on the Model Town incident, he predicted that the Lahore High Court will decide in favour of the victims and order the government to make the inquiry report public, which would further lay bare the true faces of the rulers.

The party chief underscored that Nawaz Sharif has once again “started sending ‘men’ to ask for forgiveness” and that he has been apologising for the Model Town case since three years.

According to reports, the PAT chief will address Tajdar-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat Conference in Lahore on 11 Rabi-ul-Awwal (Thursday).

Earlier on Monday, addressing a hurriedly called meeting of the PAT Central Core Committee, Qadri has said that none other than Nawaz Sharif is behind the efforts to change the text of oath regarding the Finality of Prophethood.

He said that these changes to the law were enacted with the support of the ‘foreign powers’ in an effort to end the disqualification.
