MADRID – Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, son of Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, will replace his father in the team for his side’s remaining La Liga fixtures, The Dependent has learnt.
Cristiano Ronaldo Sr, who accordingly to reports in the Spanish media has already conceded that Barcelona have won the league title, despite only 12 matches having gone into the season, doesn’t want to waste any energy in the league and wants to instead complete a hat-trick of Champions League titles and try to win the World Cup.
It is pertinent to mention here that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi currently has 12 times more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo Sr in the league this season. It is also worth noting that Cristiano Ronaldo Sr has only one more goal than Cristiano Ronaldo Jr in La Liga this season.
Sources within Real Madrid management confirm that they’re on board with the idea, considering the need to have at least one person named Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting 11 regardless of how he performs.
“We need someone called Cristiano Ronaldo in the first team – form doesn’t matter,” said a Real Madrid official. “But take nothing away from Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, with his ability and considering the kind of form his father has displayed in the league, he actually might be more useful.”
Real Madrid insiders have further confirmed that while the plan is almost finalised, they would wait for the result of tonight’s Valencia-Barcelona clash to formalise it.
