LAHORE: The number of cases relating to the negligence by doctors and healthcare staff has been on the rise and the latest victim of this negligence was a newborn child in Manga Mandi, who allegedly lost his life due to lack of effort by a doctor and lady health worker (LHW) supervising the delivery case on Thursday.
According to reports, the incident happened at the Rural Healthcare Center (RHC) in Manga Mandi, where the child delivery case of a woman was subjected to negligence by Dr Farzana and LHW Hira.
Laborer Liaquat took his wife Rubina to the RHC for the birth of their child, where the medical staff after a cursory checkup left her unassisted during the delivery. Complications during the delivery resulted in the death of the child.
The family protested the lack of attention being given to the mother and accused doctors of being responsible for the death of the newborn child. They requested Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of this issue and punish those involved in the negligence.
