A woman on Monday was set alight by her husband over a domestic dispute in Khanewal, police said.
Taking notice of the incident, DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat said the accused, Umar Sanka, visited his wife at her parents’ residence—who had already left her husband’s house to live at her parents’—where the two got into a quarrel.
Following the argument, Sanka poured petrol on the wife and set her on fire. According to the DPO, the victim’s right wrist and shoulder received burn wounds from the attack, and was transferred to Khanewal the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment.
The victim who was said to be stable now has been provided with police protection, the DPO said. An FIR was also registered against the suspect, following which he was arrested, he said.
