ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Friday that uninterrupted democracy is imperative for achieving progress and prosperity in the country.
He stated this while addressing a ceremony at the police academy. He said that Pakistan’s biggest challenge of non-state actors can only be tackled by unity.
Iqbal said that war on terror will continue till its logical end, adding that armed forces, police and law enforcement agencies were playing a crucial role in the war against terror.
He emphasised on training police officials on modern lines to help them become more efficient in performing their duties.
“Modern technology is indispensable to deal with the crimes on the scientific basis,” he said.
Iqbal highlighted the importance of maintaining a close liaison between police and citizens to achieve desired goals.
Interior minister said World Bank (WB) had ranked the highest economic growth rate in Pakistan for 10 years, but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan could only see bleakness through his glasses.
The international community was acknowledging Pakistan as an emerging economy, while PTI chief was calling it a ‘sinking economy’, he said in a statement.
Further criticising PTI chief, Ahsan said demand for pre-election means losing five National Assembly seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and three from Balochistan.
Asking Imran to be mature in politics, he said elections could only be held on the basis of the new census at its designated time.
