LARKANA: Despite a passage of over 36 hours, Larkana and Khairpur police have not yet decided about the jurisdiction in which two people were gunned down in a dispute between two groups as no case has so far been registered.
One affected party held a protest demonstration and blocked main Sukkur-Larkana highway near Saidudero roundabout on Sunday morning by keeping bodies of Moula Bux and Ayaz Ali Sheikh, the two deceased.
Mukhtiar Khatoon, Manzooran Khatoon, Iqbal Khatoon, Kory and Rashid told media that they were awaiting the police to shift the bodies since last night but nobody had so far arrived for their postmortem. They added that both Khairpur and Larkana police were in conflict over the jurisdiction issue, which showed their negligence.
They said that they were living in a village Bhambho Sheikh of riverine area, but they were not being treated equally and were being denied rights.
They also said that the two bodies of Hazar Khan and Darban Sheikh had not yet been recovered and one injured Miandad Sheikh was also missing. They added that the accused Malan Sheikh along with his sons Qurban, Darban and Ali Sheikh attacked them and killed their innocent people.
They said that the assailants also stole their cattle and murdered their loved ones. They also accused police of both districts of siding with the accused party after getting a huge bribe.
The affectees further claimed that they were peasants and not criminals and the treatment meted out to them by police was barbaric which should be noticed by higher police authorities and probed.
SHO Naudero Sartaj Jagirani arrived at the spot three hours after the sit-in, when the agitating villagers refused to open the main highway, and assured them that the postmortem of their bodies would be carried out at Rural Health Center at Naudero, after which they called off their protest. They were also assured that a case will also be registered at the relevant police station jurisdiction.
