MULTAN: In a bid to save their son, social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch’s parents on Tuesday backtracked on their earlier statement that Waseem had killed his sister.

Qandeel’s father has said that she was murdered by her cousin Haq Nawaz while Waseem only stood near him.

Qandeel Baloch, who shot to fame for her provocative selfies, was strangled in July last year by her brother Muhammad Waseem. He said she had brought shame on the family and confessed to his crime in a press conference after his arrest.

The social media sensation posed for selfies with Mufti Abdul Qavi in an incident that saw him swiftly rebuked by the Religious Affairs Ministry.

Qavi is currently in police custody in connection with the case. Multan’s session court on Monday adjourned the hearing of the case till November 20 due to unfinished interrogation from Mufti Abdul Qavi.

On the other hand, Qandeel Baloch’s father has accused that Abdul Qavi is pressurising them to settle the case by taking money. He maintained that Mufti is offering a deal through various people, and affirmed that he is the reason behind her murder.
