ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has demanded that name of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), terming this to be a real test for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.
On the other hand, Sindh Minister for Industries and Trade Manzoor Wassan stated that once Nawaz returns to Pakistan, he may not be able to leave the country again.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry also demanded that Nawaz should be placed on the ECL.
Addressing the media outside the Supreme Court on October 25, Chaudhry stated that Nawaz Sharif should be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) since his frequent travel was delaying the corruption proceedings against him.
In a recent high-level huddle chaired by Nawaz Sharif in London on Monday, party affairs and its strategy for the 2018 general elections were highlighted.
Talking to reporters following the meeting, Nawaz said there could be no minus-one formula in his party. “The PML-N is united. I will be returning to Pakistan on Nov 2 to appear in the court hearing even though I have been denied a fair trial,” he said,
The accountability court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the ousted prime minister and is expected to resume hearing the graft references against him on November 3.
