KARACHI: An international security firm, Eastern Star International, has expressed satisfaction over Karachi’s security situation, saying Karachi is safe enough to hold the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
The positive response coming from the firm has strengthened the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) plan to hold some of the PSL season 3 matches at the National Stadium, Karachi.
Eastern Star International, the consultant that advise the International Cricket Council (ICC) and other such bodies on matters of security, sent its representative Reg Dickason for an inspection of the stadium last weekend.
Dickason had visited Karachi and was shown around by PCB’s security head Colonel Azam; he had also held meetings with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah as well as IG Sindh, who assured full cooperation.
Following the visit, Dickason had submitted a favourable report to the ICC, indicating that the city of Karachi and its sole international level stadium is safe enough for the T20 league.
Following Dickason’s endorsement, the local government of Karachi has begun cleaning up the surroundings of the stadium, while renovation work is expected to begin Monday.
