ISLAMABAD: The incident of a slap on a police officer by a Punjab government lawyer, during the appearing of Maryam Nawaz before the accountability court, has been settled on Wednesday after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Talal Chaudhary and Tariq Fazal’s day-long efforts.
Talal Chaudhary took the matter into his own hands and started convincing both the parties—lawyers and police—and, as an initial step, he helped stop contempt of court notices to three police officials.
The lawyers have withdrawn case plea against police officials in deputy commissioner office. Upon which, in a goodwill gesture, the notices of contempt of court to three police officials have been stopped.
Sources claimed that the fear of deployment of Rangers at accountability court has compelled both the parties to settle the issue outside the court.
On October 13, outside the accountability court in Islamabad, pro-government lawyers rallied to the support of Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and his son-in-law—who were summoned by the NAB court.
In the whole charade that went vile, a violent lawyer out of the blue slapped an elite police officer across his face.
The issue arose when police did not let the lawyers go inside the accountability court when the lawyers had orders that clearly stated they could go inside. The violence was evident from both sides as a lawyer was struck on his head as well, which led to instant bleeding.
