ISLAMABAD: National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHS&R) Minister Saira Afzal Tarar on Wednesday said that the successful conclusion of the regional committee meeting helped in developing the positive image of Pakistan in the world.
The minister said that delegates from over 22 countries held a meeting with the NHS&R and sought collaboration in a number of areas. The delegates shared and asked for expertise from the Pakistani authorities to ensure improved health services in their home countries, said the minister.
The delegation of Afghanistan, while appreciating the polio elimination programme of Pakistan, asked to formulate a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end the transference of virus on both sides of the border.
The Yemeni delegation talked on the collaboration between the both countries for the training of doctors and also asked Pakistan to allow admission to Yemeni students in the medical colleges of the Pakistan.
The delegation of Sudan discussed the procedures of controlling the drug prices and import from Pakistani industry. The minister informed that Pakistan introduced the bar code system to control the overcharging on medicines.
Though Pakistan has small pharmaceutical industry exporting medicine as a proper legislation benefited the industry for the export of quality medicine.
