KARACHI: A seventy-five member high profile delegation from the Islamabad National Defence University (NDU) comprising 75 participants of the 19th National Security Workshop, visited Karachi Port Trust (KPT) office here on Wednesday.
Their inland tour was a part of their on-going 19th National Security Workshop in which eminent Senators, MNAs, MPAs, bureaucrats, ambassadors and senior armed forces officers have participated, says a KPT press release.
KPT Operations general manager (GM) gave them a detailed briefing on security consensus, challenges, roles and functioning of the port and the future planning, after the introductory session. The delegation was also updated on the future outlook of Karachi in the wake of the KPT mega port projects and the ongoing China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects that promise a big increase in trade activities in the near future.
Projects like Karachi Harbour Crossing Bridge, Cargo Village and the Elevated Expressway projects grabbed the attention of most of the delegation during the proceedings. The GM informed the delegates that the present government policies were very favourable for the KPT in executing these expansionary projects.
