ISLAMABAD: Expressing his displeasure over the recent passage of the election reforms bill, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said that “today is a black day for Pak democracy”.
Khan took to Twitter to express his opinion on the matter.
He remarked that the passage of this bill— which allows a disqualified person to head a political party— was tantamount to making a mockery of the constitution, simply to rescue Nawaz Sharif politically. He also said that the nation will not allow corrupt mafias to rule.

The National Assembly Monday passed the Elections Bill 2017, paving way for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to regain presidentship of the ruling party.
A controversial clause in the bill which was met with heavy criticism by the opposition paves way for politicians disqualified from public position to lead political parties.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Tuesday challenged the Elections Bill 2017 in the Lahore High Court (LHC), urging to nullify the law. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Sheikh Rasheed-led Awami Muslim League will also challenge the law.
