Younis, Misbah’s UAE desert tents, camels to remain vacated in their honour

ABU DHABI – Ahead of the start of the first match of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan Cricket Board has announced to keep the tents in the UAE deserts where Misbah and Younis camped, vacated in their honour.

The announcement was made by the PCB chairman Najam Sethi before the start of the Abu Dhabi Test.

“We are retiring the tents, camels and thawbs belonging to the two legends in their honour,” Sethi confirmed. “We have also requested the UAE government to acknowledge these as heritage sites, animals and dresses of Pakistan cricket and to preserve it accordingly.”

Before the start of the series, rumours were abound as to who would stay in the tents vacated by Misbah and Younis when the Pakistan cricket team camps in the desert for their next challenge in the UAE.

However, the board and the team management collectively decided that it won’t be possible for anyone to live in those tents.

“We are getting a couple of new tents for the squad,” Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur confirmed. “Also five new camels have been ordered for the few uncapped players.”

“With international cricket completely returning to Pakistan soon, we would not need any more tents or camps in the desert,” believes Sethi. “So this would further increase their heritage value.”
