Man ordered to sweep mosque, offer prayers as punishment for selling drugs

A man named Irfan Ahmed Bhand was ordered by a civil judge in Dadu to sweep and pray five times a day at a mosque in Benazirabad for a whole year as a punishment after the man was found guilty of selling drugs.

Civil Judge Gul Mohammad Brohi warned that the guilty would be closely monitored by the prayer leader of the mosque, and any failure to comply with court orders would lead to a prison sentence of two years.

According to details, Irfan was found guilty of selling drugs when he was caught by the police carrying three kilograms of ‘Hemp’ (Bhang).

Speaking to journalists after his verdict, the accused said that he was pleased with the sentence awarded to him and vowed to obey court’s order and lead his life according to the teachings of Islam.
