As many as eight people, including a Member of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaq, drowned after a car fell into a drain near Sakakas area of Nakyal.
On Sunday, the car was travelling from Khoi Ratta sector to Nakyal when it met with the accident due to fast currents in the drain and a heavy downpour, the police said. Among the deceased are two brothers and three nephews of MLA Ishaq, the police added.
According to reports, local administration officials and soldiers of the Pakistan Army took part in the rescue operation to recover the eight bodies.
