LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued show-cause notices to five assembly members belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for violating the code of conduct during NA-120 by-election campaign.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Yasmin Rashid had asked the ECP to take notice of the misconduct.

As per ECP code of conduct, members of assemblies cannot visit the constituency, where a by-election is being held after the announcement of election schedule.

The members of assemblies include MNA Shaista Pervez Malik, MPA Kiran Dar, MPA Rukhsana Kokab, MNA Saba Sadiq and MNA Maiza Hameed.

The ECP has issued notices to the members of National Assembly and Punjab Assembly and sought reply from them within three days.

The notice said that if the members failed to reply the notices within three days then action would be taken against them as per relevant laws.

It is to be mentioned here that by-election on NA-120 is scheduled for September 17. The seat has fallen vacant after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court.
