The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday warned Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin that a show-cause notice for his disqualification would be issued to him if he’s found breaching ECP’s code of conduct during the NA-120 by-election.
This was decided in a hearing conducted by a two-member commission, held on a notice taken by the ECP after a complaint was registered by its monitoring team over the violation of the code of conduct in the NA-120 campaign.
In the meeting, the Food minister was criticized by the chief election commissioner for failing to appear before the commission.
According to the commission, the food minister is in violation of the code of conduct and will be setting a bad precedent for others.
The minister has been given until September 7 to file his reply and will be issued a show cause notice if he is found in violation of the code again.
