LAHORE: Amid the increasing activities pertaining to the by-election of NA-120, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has sought the service of CIA police as part of its campaign efforts in the constituency.

According to sources, CIA Inspector Fiyaz Ahmad has been mobilised who is known for being an expert in police encounters. Photos also exist which reveal Fiyaz’s involvement in the present happenings of NA-120, which focus on stressing the might of PML-N in the area and sway votes in favour of the party.

In connection with the environment that the party is trying to cultivate through public means, a few days ago, some workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) were harassed, after which, the PTI workers went to the Qila Gujjar Singh Station; however despite their best efforts and PTI candidate for the by-poll Dr Yasmin Rashid later reaching the station to lodge a complaint, no FIR was registered in the station.

Subsequently, in a reference which was filed in the Punjab Assembly, PTI complained that PML-N is using public resources to campaign during the election, while trying to threaten rival candidates. They alleged that the presence of CIA officers is meant to subliminally coerce population of the area to vote for the party. It was also said that upon Maryam Nawaz’s arrival, several police officials were appointed in the area which not only posed problems for the people but also affected the campaign of other candidates.
