Hours after Kashmiri militants stormed a district police headquarters in a pre-dawn attack in Occupied Kashmir on Saturday leaving eight dead, Indian forces killed three youth during a siege and search operation early on Sunday, according to the Kashmir Media Service.
Inspector General of Police Munir Khan told reporters in Sringara that three burnt bodies were found from the Police Lines area in Pulwama district.
On Saturday, at least three Kashmiri militants detonated grenades and fired automatic assault rifles to gain entry to the police facility in southern Pulwama district which also houses families of some officers.
Authorities cut off mobile internet services in the district to prevent residents from organising protest rallies.
