MARDAN: The Mardan Tehsil Council has unanimously approved the budget of Rs1045.45 million for the fiscal year 2017-18.
The session was chaired by Naib Nazim Mushtaq Seeemab and attended by all the members.
The budget was presented by Tehsil Nazim Muhammad Ayub Khan.
Members from different parties, including Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and others, gave different proposals and suggestions to be included in the budget.
On the occasion, Ayub Khan thanked all the council members for unanimously passing the budget.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Ayub Khan said that for next year the revenue estimation is 942.784 million, while the cost of expense is 1045.45million and amount of deficit are 102.67 million.
He said that Rs 313 million would be spent on salaries, while Rs 130 million is allocated for pensions.
He explained that the budget amount had been paid by the provincial government—as 30 per cent share of the Mardan Tehsil—under the provincial finance award.
In the budget, Rs 287.8 million are allocated for developmental works, said he and added that his team was committed to the development of the tehsil, which was highly backward and lacked amenities.
He said that developmental funds would be distributed among the councillors equally.
“We have made identical budgetary allocations for you all (councillors). Now it is your responsibility to ensure that these funds are being spent on schemes meant for the welfare of people in the tehsil,” he said.
