Constitution best guarantee for national unity: Siraj-ul-Haq

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq, has said that the constitution of Pakistan was the best way to guarantee national unity and harmony, whereas a disqualified person was talking about amending the Constitution. He was speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony on the Independence Day at Mansoora.

Hundreds of JI workers and youth, besides JI leadership, attended the impressive ceremony charged with emotions.

Siraj-ul-Haq said that neither any general nor any political leader was the binding force behind national unity and it was the Constitution that was keeping the people and the provinces together.

Stating that Pakistan was like a mother, he said that the leaders and workers of the JI would protect this country till the last drop of blood in their veins.

He said that those talking of dropping articles 62 and 63 would not be allowed to play with the Constitution.

The JI chief listed the main provisions of the Constitution including its Islamic articles.

Siraj-ul-Haq, said that as Muslims, the Pakistani people and leaders were supposed to teach other nations about honesty and truthfulness but the situation was otherwise in the country.

He urged the people to renew their pledge and strive for the supremacy of the Quran and the Sunnah to ensure the end of corruption.
