Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan were two sides of the same coin and that neither of the two had the capability to solve the country’s problems.

He expressed these views, while addressing a public rally in Chiniot, on Saturday.

The PPP chairman said, “Mian sahab (Nawaz Sharif) and Imran Khan are two sides of the same coin.”

“Nawaz Sharif development is a farce, while Imran’s change is a lie,” he added.

Bilawal said that both (Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan) just want to grab power and have nothing to give to the masses.

He said that Pakistan is failing on various fronts, including trade and foreign policy.

He said that rising extremism and terrorism will not end solely on the basis of operations, but rather a united nation which can develop a strong narrative and implement the National Action Plan.

“However, our leaders are only eyeing on power rather than national issues. They neither have the ability or the desire to address these problems.”

“Who is Nawaz Sharif showing this display of power,” he said strongly lamenting that the crucial GT Road was closed for three days for the people of the province just for his sake.

“Nawaz Sharif is remembering the Charter of Democracy after he is ousted from power,” he said. “He is now calling for a grand dialogue against the situation.”

Bilawal questioned that Nawaz Sharif is saying that seventeen prime ministers have been ousted from power, but should tell how many times he has been part of the conspiracies against them.

While taking a jibe at the PTI chairman, Bilawal said that if Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan consisted of a place where women were no longer safe, the Taliban were estranged brothers and abuses were common, then the people would reject such an ideology.

He urged the people not to be dismayed by Nawaz and Imran but told them to vote for PPP in the next election.

Bilawal hailed the services of his party for Chiniot, including giving it a status of a district and setting up a body for furniture exports, which, he said, was ruined by the PML-N government.

Bilawal vowed that the PPP will bounce back with a manifesto for everyone, and outlined the ‘pro-poor’ policies which it would implement if it comes to power.

This includes reducing GST on agriculture exports, water supply policy, and support price before harvest, free housing and plot on easy instalments for low-income people, youth employment, expanding BISP and doubling funds for women, increase education and health budget, higher education for poor people and free healthcare with excellent treatment facilities.

“PPP is the flag-bearer for the development of Pakistan,” he said, calling for support from poor, downtrodden, farmers and other marginalised segments of society.

The PPP chairman said that his party workers were once again ready to defeat PML-N in the general elections. He said that PPP was defeated in the polls according to a planned strategy.

“In 2013 polls, we were defeated according to a well thought-out strategy,” he said.

“I will never disappoint you. The grandson of Bhutto will never abandon you,” he vowed.
