LAHORE – Urging the nation to never forget the economic benefits brought under the four-year tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz said that Paris Saint Germaine’s £200 million ($263 million) investment is a result of the trust that her father had created.
“Don’t forgot who gave you world record football signings, my fellow Pakistanis,” tweeted Maryam Nawaz with pictures of Neymar, Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale.
Later, talking to The Dependent Maryam highlighted the fact that Nawaz Sharif had given the world, three record football transfers in four years.
“After Cristiano Ronaldo moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009, the PPP government couldn’t give even a single record signing,” she said. “Meanwhile, PML-N gave the world the first world record within three months (in August 2013) when Bale moved from Spurs to Madrid for £85.3 million pounds.”
She added that Neymar’s signing, which had more than doubled the previous record – also set under the PML-N regime – of Pogba (£89.3 million move from Juventus to Man Utd) was a direct result of the investment that Nawaz Sharif has brought.
“15 out of the top 20 most expensive footballers have been bought in the past four years, under PML-N, under Nawaz Sharif,” Maryam said. “It is Nawaz Sharif who gave us Neymar and CPEC.”
She also vowed that the PML-N government would continue breaking records despite Nawaz Sharif’s ouster.
“Nawaz Sharif is an ideology. The high spending in the football world would continue under the PML-N.”
