ISLAMABAD: Bahria Town on Monday hoisted its tallest-ever national flag at Bahria Garden City in Islamabad.
The national flag was being hoisted on a 160 feet tall pole built on a high hill in Bahria Golf City. The size of the flag is 25 x 40 feet. The flag hoisting in August is a curtain raiser to the grand celebrations Bahria Town is planning for the Independence Day on August 14, 2017.
Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain was the chief guest of the flag hoisting ceremony.
The ceremony started with the national anthem followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. The chief guest raised the flag, which was followed by green and white pigeons and balloons which flew high in the sky. Soon after, the guests raised their hands for the Shuhada –e-Pakistan, peace and prosperity of the country.
In his address to the audience, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain emphasised on the need of national unity and harmony to capitalise on the opportunities in regional trade which are opening up for Pakistan.
Bahria Garden City Head Brigadier (r) Tariq Zaman briefed the attendees about the project, highlighting the specifications of one of the tallest flag in the history of Pakistan.
A large number of people from the twin cities, including residents of Bahria Town, the management team of Bahria Town, members of civil society and print and electronic media attended the ceremony.
