ISLAMABAD – A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court on Monday confirmed that the report that was to be submitted by the joint investigation team (JIT) probing allegations of money laundering against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family, has been eaten by a dog.
The bench, comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Ejaz Afzal, after examination of the report, asked for images of the dog, his personal details, a character certificate, and transcripts of anything he has said over the past 60 days.
The JIT has also been asked to either present the dog or the report in court by next hearing, which will take place on July 17.
Meanwhile, a piece published in Jang Media Group today had already reported that a dog had eaten the report. The media house has been issued contempt notice, by the Supreme Court and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The apex court also ordered the registration of a criminal case against Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi in order to find out who is behind the dog that ate the JIT report.
The bench also ordered that the name and institution of the individual responsible for the fact that they hadn’t received their lunch as of 3 pm on Monday, July 10.
