BADIN: Like every year, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) observed a black day on Wednesday, condemning the toppling of the government of elected Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto by General Ziaul Haq in 1977.
In this connection, a massive rally was taken out from the PPP district office which concluded in front of the Badin Press Club. The office bearers and workers hailing from different towns and cities participated in the rally led by PPP local leaders, including Taj Muhammad Mallah, Khan Sahib Jamali, and Abdul Sattar Memon, Amir Khoso, Zahid Khawaja and others.
While addressing the participants of the rally, the speakers added that the PPP had always struggled for democracy and supremacy of law and constitution in the country; it never endorsed any undemocratic act, adding that dictators’ followers were creating the conspiracies to derail the democracy till now.
They added that July 5 would always be remembered in the history of Pakistan as a black day. They paid homage to PPP leaders and activists who were resistant to the dark age of the martial law. They said that the party, today, has been united under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto, who was fighting for the rights of the people.
They concluded that ZA Bhutto would always remain alive in the hearts of people because he gave supreme sacrifice for the sake of democracy.
