Islamabad police SSP cancels policemen’s holidays ahead of Eid

ISLAMABAD: Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani has cancelled the holidays of all employees of the Islamabad police with a purpose to keep security on high alert and ensure effective measures for the purpose.

Police sources on Thursday said the Islamabad SSP has directed to cancel the holidays of policemen of the police force.

During the ongoing week, Eid shopping will be at peak in the capital for which the SSP has directed to beef up security arrangements and ensure effective patrolling, as well as vigilance in the city.

The police officials have been also assigned security duties in this connection at mosques and Imambargahs of the city.

The bomb disposal squad would conduct checking of various areas and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregation.

As per the plan, the source said beat systems have been introduced for security at shopping centres, markets and additional deployment of policemen will be ensured at the Chand Raat.

The contingents of mobile reserve police and prisoner van movement would also be a part of the security measures at important shopping centres, including the Jinnah Super, Super Market, F-10 and Aabpra.

Policemen have been assigned duties at bus stands, graveyards and railway stations while special teams will be also stationed at Faisal Mosque on the Eid day.

Special police pickets have been erected in the vicinity of bus stands and police with the help of volunteers would check the passengers and monitor the suspicious activities there.

As per security duties on Eid, the policemen would patrol the various sectors and contingents of Pakistan Rangers and police commandos will assist police in these security duties.

Furthermore, SSP Sajid Kiani has also issued special directions to the police to remain on high alert and be vigilant to avert any untoward situation in the capital.

A special patrolling plan has also been chalked out following which vehicles of police stations, Falcon and Bravo vehicles would patrol in their respective areas while additional vehicles have been also provided to each police station to ensure the success of the patrolling plan.

Police teams have been constituted for patrolling in various urban sectors and rural areas.

Keeping in view the rush of visitors at public places, the source said that security measures have been also taken at Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Yasmin Garden, Monal, Lake View Park and Chattar Park.
