Cricket fans commemorate June as Pakistan repeat T20 World Cup win in blessed month

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE/KARACHI – Three days after the historic Champions Trophy win in England, the Pakistan cricket fans continue to observe the month of June, as the national side repeated their success in the blessed month.

Pakistan, who won the World T20 on June 21, 2009 won the ICC Champions Trophy on June 18, this Sunday as fans counted their blessings and commemorated the month.

“The moment I found out that the tournament was going to be in June I knew Pakistan would win,” said Amjad Ahmed, 49, a small business owner who broke two television sets after Pakistan’s Group Stage loss against India.

“The 2009 win was also a miracle after early setbacks and so is the one in 2017. This can only be explained through supernatural intervention, and we must express our gratitude for the divine,” maintained Saba Ali, 28, a blogger and social media influencer, who singlehandedly sent 1,861 tweets aiming abuses at Indians including, but not limited to, Rishi Kapoor and Virender Sehwag.

Meanwhile, sports statistician and veteran analyst Mirza Iqbal Baig expressed his disbelief in rumours and analyses that had nothing to do with on-field matters.

“I’ve heard rumours saying that Pakistan won the World Cup and the Champions Trophy final on the same day. Please cut out the nonsense,” Baig said while talking to The Dependent.

“Pakistan won the World Cup on the glorious evening of June twenty first, two thousand and nine, while the Champions Trophy win has come on the historic evening of June eighteenth, two thousand and seventeen,” he added.

It is believed that cricket fans would soon commemorate London as well, as the blessed city where Pakistan both the World T20 and the Champions Trophy.
