Pakistan opening batsman Azhar Ali has been silently but swiftly moving up the chain of command after his 14th test century against the West Indies on Thursday.
Enjoying a top form through out the season, Azhar has scored 1,538 runs the most by any Test cricketer in the last 12 months.
In doing so Azhar has overtaken Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli who has so far managed 1,503 runs and Australian skipper Steven Smith who has scored 1,399 runs in the last 12 months.
Hitting back to back centuries Azhar with 14 tons under his belt is now stationed at seventh slot on the list of most Test hundreds by a Pakistani batsmen. The table which is ruled by Younis Khan with 34 centuries.
