- PTI’s Counsel Naeem Bukhari asks for time to submit reply
Justice Saqib Nisar-led three-member bench, while hearing a petition against PTI supremo Imran Khan and Jahangir Khan Tarin, on Tuesday, has told respondents’ counsels to submit details of their clients’ assets including property in Bani Gala, Niazi Services Ltd, an offshore company, along with nomination papers of 2002 election.
The bench is hearing a petition filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi. Abbasi filed the petition against PTI leader’s assets beyond his means, foreign funding of PTI, and Niazi Services Ltd.
While arguing, PTI counsel Naeem Bukhari said that he is submitting a statement from his client. “Honorable Court and Petitioner’s Counsel may look at it. We will also submit all documents pertaining to London flats and Niazi Services Ltd soon,” he said. Bukhari also told the court that he’ll conclude his arguments in next 45 minutes as has to leave for London for 10 days for some personal matter.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar pointed out the possibility that what if the next 45 minutes are spent on arguing about working and making of foreign companies, then, Bukhari said that Anwar Mansour will assist the court on foreign funding.
Akram Sheikh, counsel of Hanif Abbasi, while continuing his arguments said that even after divorce the property of Bani Gala was in Imran Khan’s ex-wife name. “One finds it hard to understand that why even after divorce the property remained in Jemima’s name as in order to save taxes properties and lands are bought in someone else’s name,” he argued.
“What do you want to achieve by arguing this,” the CJ asked; upon which Sheikh told the court that Imran Khan bought 95 Kanal in Jamima’s name after a year of their divorce and kept it in her name for four months. “In his 2002 elections nomination papers, he didn’t mention his wife’s name, neither his property nor that he took money from his wife,” replied Advocate Sheikh.
PTI Counsel told the court that on Friday he will submit more documents than the applicant has demanded.
