KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday adjourned a petition against nonpayment of salaries, gratuity and other dues to the employees of the Pakistan Steel Mills to May 24 due to the absence of the lawyer of the PSM.

Justice Iqbal Kalhoro expressed displeasure over the absence of the lawyer and remarked the court would decide the case ex parte if the lawyer remained absent in the coming hearing.

However, the lawyer of the employees, Advocate Nadeem Sheikh said that despite the release of budgetary funds every year, the salaries and dues of the employees are not being paid and their families face a starvation-like condition.

The senior human rights attorney further said that this is a serious issue and we hope the court would dole out justice to the affected employees.
