District council chairman increases budget for development schemes

MIRPURKHAS: District Umerkot Council Chairman Noor Ali Shah said that the budget for development schemes which was over 65 million has been increased by Rs 20 million.

He made this announcement while presiding over a meeting, said a statement issued here on Tuesday.

The meeting among others was also attended by Umerkot Deputy Commissioner Nadeem-ur-Rehman, Vice Chairman Haji Muhammad, CMO Imtiaz Halepoto.

He said the budget has been increased so that every UC member can be given development schemes.

The members at the meeting appointed Advocate Ponju Mal as a legal advisor to the council.

Some members also raised their concerns over the use of substandard material in the construction of roads in Kunri.  Upon which the council chairman took notice and expressed his annoyance.

He directed the officials of Roads Department to ensure use of a standard material in repair and construction of roads.

On the occasion, district council members, including Haji Yousaf and others, presented a resolution against unnecessary, long hour power outages and excessive billings by WAPDA, which was passed unanimously.

Noor Ali Shah also expressed his annoyance over the absence of XEN and SDO of WAPDA.
