Senate, along with federating units, celebrating “Constitution day” today

ISLAMABAD: The Senate, in collaboration with the four federating units is celebrating “Constitution Day” on Monday.

This year’s theme of commemoration is “Enhancement of Role and Powers of Senate of Pakistan; to protect the rights of the Federating Units”. The Constitution of Pakistan was passed by the National Assembly on 10th April, 1973 and received the Presidential assent on 12th April, 1973.

As part of the Constitution Day celebrations, a reception will be held at Parliament House in Islamabad today. Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that the Constitution of the country provides equal opportunities to all the provinces and communities for propagation of their culture.

He was addressing a special ceremony held in connection with the Constitution Day in Islamabad. Raza Rabbani said all the provinces are interconnected through strong bonds of culture and we all have to work together to strengthen our social and cultural values.

In his message on the eve of “Constitution Day” today, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said supremacy of Constitution is our ultimate destination that guarantees democracy, fundamental rights and security for every citizen. He said the sanctity of this sacred document must be upheld at any cost.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said commemorating this historic day reiterates our pledge to protect, preserve and defend each and every word of this sacred document that unites us as a nation with liberty, social justice and equality.
