NRDP organises events to mark Global Money Week

BADIN: The Global Money Week (GMW) is being celebrated across the world including, different rural and urban parts of Pakistan under the theme “Learn, Save and Earn” aimed to educate children and young people about their social and economic rights and responsibilities to create a generation of capable adults who can make wise decisions for their future.

National Rural Development Programme (NRDP) has also formed GMW 2017 organising committee under the leadership of NRDP Executive Director Mirza Moqeem Baig and this committee is responsible for supervising, monitor and execute the plan activities as per organisational standards.

In Pakistan, the NRDP is the leading organisation which actively organises different events in various parts of the country including, Badin district along with its Sindh Voice Network, a chain of different active organisations.

Additionally, hundreds of workshops, discussions, seminars, sports events, art competition and educational sessions, walks and press talks were organised across the country including, district Badin along with cities and rural areas to educate and engage children, youth and other people by the NRDP.

The planned activities are being reported to Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), local and national and international media, simultaneously.

NRDP has organised many events to raise awareness regarding socio-economic empowerment of women, youth and other marginalised groups, and deserving minorities.

The NRDP provides the loan facilities to expand the business chain in the remote area communities to convert the adversities into the opportunities for thousands of rural youth. In addition to this, NRDP has established the financial literacy schools where thousands of the children and young girls are getting training, skill and knowledge about financial literacy, knowledge about banking services to mobilise them on saving for a better future.

The overall objective of these events was to equip the young people and children of different areas of Pakistan and especially people of Badin with participatory teaching tools and techniques on financial literacy i.e. budget, saving, investment, loan management, and access to financial institutions, rights and obligations of consumers.

GMW is an annual global celebration, initiated by the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), with local and regional events and activities aimed at inspiring children and youth to learn about money, saving, creating livelihoods, gaining employment and becoming an entrepreneur.

During the year 2016, 7 million children and youth, 132 countries, 13,950 organisations were part of over 33,278 activities, organised under the umbrella of this organisation.
