AC approves exemption plea of Dr Asim in corruption references

KARACHI: The Karachi’s Accountability Court (AC) on Saturday accepted the plea of former Petroleum Minister Dr Asim seeking exemption from attendance in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references.

The former petroleum minister has filed a petition seeking exemption from attendance, stating the reason being unwell.

The court while approving his plea for exemption adjourned the hearing till April 25.

The accused is facing the charges of corruption of Rs 462 billion and 17 billion in two NAB references respectively.

On the other hand, the contract of the judge hearing of references has expired and a new judge has not been appointed. The hearing of references was conducted by link judge No 1.
