Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday gave the green signal to put the names of five players involved in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Among the players suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board are Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan and Shahzaib Hasan. According to a representative of the Interior Ministry, Nisar had been briefed that Khalid Latif and Mohammad Irfan have already recorded their statements with the FIA. The rest of the players will record their statements by tomorrow.

Chaudhry Nisar directed officials of his ministry to investigate the bookies who were also involved in the PSL spot-fixing scandal. The rest of the players will record their statements by tomorrow. In the ongoing case, the board has so far suspended four current or former national stars.

The interior minister further ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to crack down on gambling websites in order to discourage and end spot fixing in cricket games.

Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, fellow members of the Islamabad United team that took part in the tournament, were also provisionally suspended and charged last month over meeting a man suspected of being linked to an international betting syndicate.

Former Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed was also provisionally suspended on charges of being a “go between” in the spot-fixing incident. Jamshed and another unnamed person were arrested in Britain last month but were bailed until April.

  1. What a shame for Pakistan. We always get bad coverage abroad. Just when the country hoisted a welcome final in Lahore Our crickters wree exposed as match fixers. They wanted to make a quick buck! The pride of the country does not meet much to them.

  2. Corruption is in our society’s fabric like a Cancer those who welcome Mohammad amir including politicians senior cricketer and specially common people are also responsible for this . If we not put fear into there mind this will happen again and again

    • I agree with you but these midguided players prefer greed over fear. They come from diverse backgrounds. After having struggled to reach the top they get carried away when they see the heavens opening in front of them both nationally and on a international Level. The player you mention did not exactly come from a privelaged back ground but he had talent and was on the way to become a millioner in uk if he had not let greed over power him. After spending five years in the wilderness he is a shadow of what he was. How much he lost God only knows. Did others learn from his experience—-not at all. I must add match fixing occurs in other countries too but not to the extent in the land of pure.
