A declassified RAW military report has suggested that the 1971 war between India and Pakistan was fought primarily because India didn’t want Pakistan to have PSL teams from Dhaka and Chittagong.
The declassified report suggests that India knew the future of cricket is associated with the rise of T20 leagues all over the world. Therefore, a united Pakistan would have had teams from East Pakistan which would have made PSL even more of a success than it currently is, dwarfing IPL and any other T20 league on the planet.
The report suggests India waged the war to prevent teams from East Pakistan becoming a part of PSL in future.
It is pertinent to mention here that though there was no concept of T20s back in the 70s, the sheer promise of the PSL is so immense, that there were vibes of this then upcoming event as far back as the 1840s.
Another crucial fact unearthed from the report suggests India and Israel have been working together to sabotage cricket in Pakistan, including corruption in cricket as well as Pakistan cricket team’s abject performances over the years. The crux of the report points to the fact that every major scandal in Pakistan cricket has had India behind it.
After Javed Miandad’s last ball six in Sharjah Cup final in 1986, India asked Israel’s help to counter the growing threat of Pakistani cricket, the report says. Israel since then has been a crucial lackey.
