Former Pakistan T20I captain Shahid Afridi attended International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy tour launch on Tuesday and accepted the role of the country’s ambassador for the tournament.

At the launch ceremony in the United Arab Emirates, Afridi said, “The ICC Champions Trophy is an event which gives me and millions of Pakistan cricket supporters mixed feelings. It is the only ICC major tournament Pakistan has never won, but at the same time it is the only ICC event in which Pakistan has beaten India.

However, the former captain added that he hopes Pakistan will change their luck in the tournament. “I am sure things will soon change as nothing is permanent in life and sport,” he said.
The trophy will visit Karachi between March 28 and 30, and the tournament will commence from June 1 in the United Kingdom.
The schedule of the tour is as follows:
March 2-15 – Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi
March 18-21 – Dhaka
March 22-25 – Colombo
March 28-30 – Karachi
April 4-12 – Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town
April 15-18 – Auckland
April 19-27 – Melbourne and Sydney
May 2 onwards – United Kingdom
