1500 schools reopened in last two months:minister

KARACHI: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Wednesday said that as many as 1500 closed schools had been reopened in the last two months and remaining 2500 closed schools would be functional in next couple of months.

He said this while addressing an open Katcheri at the Malir Deputy Commissioner Office on Wednesday.

Later, he told media-persons that a policy has been adopted in transferring and posting of the school teachers and college lecturers to enhance quality education and help reducing problems in the institutions.

The minister announced Rs 40 million in addition to addressing missing facilities in schools of the district Malir and further told that Rs 2.5 billion had been invested to meet out the missing facilities in schools especially in girls schools.

Dahar said that the budget would be utilised before June and all the deputy commissioners were being assigned as the project directors to monitor these development works.

He was of the opinion that being the public representatives, all the town nazims, chairmen and vice chairmen were supposed to visit schools / colleges regularly and keep a vigilant eye on the performance of the teachers.

He said that through SEF program, schools are being established in these schools every child is getting Rs 500 each monthly stipend.

Sindh Katchi Abadi Minister Murtaza Baloch, MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Chairman Jan Muhammad Baloch, Salman Abdullah Murad and the others were also present on the occasion.
