KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday accepted the plea of Muttahida Qoumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MPA Abdul Rauf Siddiqui in Baldia factory fire case.

The special court heard the Baldia Town factory fire case at the judicial complex inside the central prison on Thursday.

During the hearing, the prime accused, Abdul Rahman alias Bhola and Zubair alias Charya, were presented before the court.

Medico-legal Officer (MLO) of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital was also present before the court to record his statement.

MQM’s Rauf Siddiqui did not appear before the court. However, his lawyer appeared before the court and requested an exemption from hearing for his client.

The court accepted the plea to grant exemption from personal appearance and adjourned the hearing till April 12.

Over 250 workers had died in September 2012 in a fire in the multi-story garment factory in Baldia Town, Karachi.
