The passing out parade of 118 recently trained prison police personnel was held at the Prison Police Training Institute at Nara Jail here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, DIG Prisons Muzaffar Alam Siddiqui expressed his satisfaction with the quality of training being imparted to trainees.

He said that the strength of the prison police had decreased because new recruitment had not been inducted in four years. The DIG said that soon a summary would be sent to the Sindh Government to recommend increasing the salary of the prison police.

According to him, incidents of jailbreak had been completely eliminated, while the services provided to the prisoners had also been considerably improved. Siddiqui acknowledged the personnel of other law enforcement agencies such as the police, Rangers, and FC, and said that they were also performing security duties in prisons of the province.

The best trainees out of the 118 received certificates from the DIG.

The institute’s principal and other prison police officials were also present.
