EWF 2017: Pakistan delegation participates at three-day forum in London

ISLAMABAD: A delegation from Pakistan on Monday participated in the Education World Forum (EWF) 2017.

The forum which was started on January 23 and would be continued till January 25, said a press release issued here.

Ministers and Advisers representing over 80 per cent of the world population attended the forum to discuss and debate issues related to education.

The event was supported by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the Department of Education (DE), the Department of International Trade (DIT), the Department of International Development (DID), the British Council and the EWF industry partners.

During the three-day forum, the Pakistani delegates will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the leading educationists and policy makers in the field.

The delegates will also share their own experiences and assessment of the issues and challenges faced by the education sector of Pakistan.

Moreover, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s education ministers would give presentations on `Building on the Power of Cities’ and `Early Childhood Development’ respectively at the forum.

Besides attending the EWF, the delegates will hold meetings with the British Council, DID, Ofsted, the University College London (UCL), and Education Development Trust UK, to discuss collaboration and joint projects in the field of education.

During the visit, governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Baluchistan will sign MoUs with the British Council.

The senior delegates from Pakistan includes AJK Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, Federal Minister for Education Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, Baluchistan Speaker Assembly Raheela Durrani, AJK Minister Education Syed Iftikhar Ali Gilani, AJK Minister Planning and Development Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan, Baluchistan Minister Education Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Education  Muhammad Atif, Minister IT, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health  Shahram Khan Tarakai, Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan and Sindh Minister Education Jam Mehtab Dahar.

The AJK PM will deliver a talk at a Seminar on Kashmir at the British Parliament on 26 January 2017.
