DSP shot dead, son injured in Peshawar firing

Unknown gunmen shot the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and injured his son on Saturday evening in Peshawar.

Police said that unidentified miscreants sprayed bullets at the DSP Riaz ul Islam and his son after they came out of the mosque after offering ‘Maghrib’ prayers in Faqirabad locality of the provincial capital Peshawar injuring them both critically.

The assailants fled from the crime scene.

The injured were rushed to a hospital , doctors’ pronounced DSP Riaz ul Islam dead whereas, his son is under treatment.

The slain official was deployed in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Police said they have started their investigations into the incident.
