Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London (MQM-L) has set up ‘silent units’ to be in direct contact with its workers in Karachi, it was learnt on Tuesday. MQM-Pakistan distanced itself from party founder Altaf Hussain after his August 22 anti-Pakistan speech.
According to sources, the units were established in Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, Nazimabad and Mehmoodabad.
A government institute has listed 210 active members of MQM-London in the port city and has also advised the relevant authorities to take action.
Deputy Convener Farooq Sattar took control of the party after the August 22nd speech and said that future party decisions would be made by the MQM Rabita Committee in Pakistan.
On October 23 MQM Pakistan’s Rabita Committee revoked the membership of 11 party members for violating party discipline and advised workers to not keep any contact with them.
