Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presiding over a meeting here at the CM House today, once again reviewed the development package of the city and especially focused on the road from the airport to Ghaggar Patak.
He said that the FWO was constructing the Karachi-Thatta dual carriageway but the road from the airport to Quaidabad (of KMC), Quaidabad to Steel Mills and then steel mills to Ghaggar Patak also need reconstruction.
Murad Ali Shah was informed that the proposed scheme has utility lines on both sides of the road. Therefore, along with the construction of the road, the water supply and gutter lines ought to be replaced.
The chief minister then directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem to approve the scheme in three portions so that tenders invitations could be issued.
He suggested that the initial portion of the road from the airport to Quaidabad should be constructed through the PD Karachi Package while the other two portions may be awarded to a well reputed contracting firm.
The chief minister also directed the police to ensure proper security during Rabiul Awal.
He directed the IG Police A D Khwaja to ensure necessary security arrangements for the processions and programmes being held during the month in Karachi and other districts of the province.
He also directed Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon to issue the necessary instructions to local bodies in order to make special arrangements for cleanliness, particularly on procession routes.
